मोगा। शहर में तेजी के साथ नियमों के खिलाफ बन रहीं कॉमर्शियल बिल्डिंगें व कॉलोनियों के खिलाफ निगम कमिश्नर जसपिंदर सिंह ने सख्त रुख अपनाया है, मेन बाजार में पूर्व विधायक साथी विजय कुमार की पैतृक प्रोपर्टी के कुछ हिस्से पर कब्जा कर बनाई गई दो मंजिली कॉमर्शियल बिल्डिंग के अवैध कब्जे वाले हिस्से को निगम की टीम ने सोमवार को ध्वस्त कर दिया। इसके साथ ही जालंधर बरनाला हाइवे किनारे बन रहीं एक अवैध कॉलोनी व गुरुनानक पुरा में विकसित की जा रही अवैध कॉलोनियों का काम बंद कराकर उनको पांच व सात दिन के नोटिस जारी किये हैं। इसके साथ ही कोटकपूरा रोड पर नियमों के खिलाफ बन रहीं कॉमर्शियल बिल्डिंगों में से पांच को चिन्हित कर उन्हें नोटिस जारी कर बिल्डिंग की मंजूरी के दस्तावेज मांगे हैं, दस्तावेज न देने पर उनके खिलाफ बिल्डिंग को ध्वस्त करने व सील करने की कार्रवाई निगम करेगी।
गौरतलब है कि अवैध रूप से मोगा में बन रहीं बिल्डिंगों के कारण न सिर्फ नगर निगम को हर महीने लाखों रुपये का चूना लग रहा है बल्कि शहर में ट्रैफिक, सीवरेज, पानी का गंभीर संकट पैदा होता जा रहा है। पिछले 20 सालों में शहर में कॉमर्शियल बिल्डिंगों की संख्या दो गुने से ज्यादा हो चुकी है लेकिन पानी व सीवरेज की लाइनें वही पुरानी कम क्षमता वाली पड़ी हैं, यही वजह है कि सीवरेज संकट हर दिन गंभीर होता जा रहा है। कॉमर्शियल बिल्डिंगें बिना पार्किंग सुविधा के आबादी क्षेत्रों में बनने से ट्रैफिक की समस्या भी लाइलाज बीमारी की तरह बढ़ती जा रही है।
निगम कमिश्नर जसपिंदर सिंह ने इस कार्रवाई से पहले बिल्डिंग ब्रांच में बड़ा फेरबदल किया, उसके बाद अब अवैध रूप से बन रहीं बिल्डिंगों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी है। कार्रवाई में पारदर्शिता बनी रहे, इसके लिए निगम की टीम के साथ ही मंगलवार को बिल्डिंग इंस्पेक्टर के साथ ही एटीपी हैड क्वार्टर दमनप्रीत सिंह को भी मौके पर भेजा गया, ताकि मौके की सही रिपोर्ट निगम कमिश्नर तक पहुंचे और बिना किसी भेदभाव के अवैध रूप से बन रहीं बिल्डिंगों के मामले में कार्रवाई की जा सके।

Moga. Municipal Commissioner Jaspinder Singh has adopted a strict stance against the commercial buildings and colonies rapidly being constructed in the city in violation of regulations. On Monday, a municipal team demolished the portion of a two-story commercial building—located in the Main Market—that had been constructed by illegally encroaching upon a section of former MLA Sathi Vijay Kumar’s ancestral property. Additionally, work has been halted on an illegal colony under construction along the Jalandhar-Barnala Highway, as well as on illegal colonies being developed in Guru Nanak Pura; notices with deadlines of five and seven days, respectively, have been issued to the parties involved. Furthermore, five commercial buildings currently being constructed on Kotkapura Road in violation of norms have been identified and served with notices demanding the submission of building approval documents. The Municipal Corporation has warned that failure to provide these documents will result in punitive action, including the demolition and sealing of the buildings.
It is noteworthy that the proliferation of illegally constructed buildings in Moga is not only causing the Municipal Corporation to lose lakhs of rupees in revenue every month but is also precipitating a severe crisis regarding traffic, sewage systems, and water supply within the city. Over the past 20 years, the number of commercial buildings in the city has more than doubled; however, the water and sewage lines remain the same old, low-capacity infrastructure. This disparity is the primary reason why the sewage crisis is becoming increasingly acute with each passing day. Moreover, as commercial buildings are being constructed within residential areas without adequate parking facilities, the city’s traffic congestion problem is spiraling out of control, much like an incurable ailment.
Prior to initiating this crackdown, Municipal Commissioner Jaspinder Singh implemented a major reshuffle within the Building Branch; having completed this administrative restructuring, he has now commenced enforcement actions against buildings being constructed in violation of the law. To ensure transparency in the proceedings, the Building Inspector—along with ATP Headquarters Damanpreet Singh—was dispatched to the site on Tuesday, accompanying the municipal team. This measure was taken to ensure that an accurate on-the-spot report reaches the Municipal Commissioner, thereby enabling action to be taken against illegally constructed buildings without any discrimination.
